The dance of democracy

The dance  of democracy has  just ended.  The furore of election-time, with Narendra Modi (Na Mo) rediscovering  a  (long-hidden) spouse, Rahul Gandhi rediscovering humility and maturity , and politicians of all hues and colour rediscovering the once- in – five years tamasha , has ended with NaMo the clear winner, by an absolute majority the nation hasn’t see in decades.
It is a clear sign of the strength of our democracy that NaMo could have risen from humble origins, to reach the highest post of the land. But as the saffron juggernaut rolls over the land, it is pertinent to ask ourselves a few questions:
1.       Is such hero-adulation really called for?
2.       Can one man change the nation?
3.       Would it be worthwhile examining what kind of  public frustration led to such widespread  desire for change?
Understandably, the minorities would be a bit concerned, given NaMo’s track record. But given the fact that even LK Advani  ( the infamous Rath man) has matured over the years, it would be probably fair to guess that even NaMo would mature. With great power comes great responsibility, as Batman would say, and no doubt NaMo would be aware of this.
What are the key issues that he would need to tackle tight away? These would be :
1.       Revival of industrial growth
2.       Creation of jobs
3.       Strengthening of internal security
4.       A sanitization of the political system to rid it of lumpenism
5.       Strengthening the country’s position in the international sphere
A tall order, no doubt, but given his phenomenal skills, probably NaMo can be expected to achieve many, if not all, of these objectives. What he needs is a steady approach, non-tolerance of nepotism and tough decision making (which he is not known to shy away from).
The nation has given an overwhelming verdict. It is  now upto Narendra Modi now to deliver.
